I always say that everybody has a book in them somewhere, but dragging it from their heads to the page is daunting. That’s where I come in. When I work with my celeb clients on their books, my single most valuable skill isn’t my writing. It’s my curiosity. I ask them questions, in essence dragging that book out of their heads and getting it onto the page. I make them think about things they may have otherwise thought uninteresting or useless, but that actually ending being great threads or chapters in their books.
A lot of people need that push, so I’ve been offering a Writing Coach package to people who just need some help, an appointment, and the right questions asked, in order to get that book out of their heads and onto the paper.
Here’s how it works:
-We have an initial two-hour consultation to evaluate the idea, then fine-tune it. Sometimes an idea is more of a magazine story, not a complete book. So we’ll work on the concept.
-Every week you’ll submit ten pages to me for review.
-I’ll read them, make notes, make suggestion and send them back.
-We’ll have a weekly 30-minute coaching session on the phone or via Skype to discuss and address questions. I’ll ask you questions to try and pull ideas.
-Before you know it, those ten pages are 200 and you’re well on your way.
-This isn’t just for memoirs. If you have a non-fiction idea, we can use the coaching time to build a proposal to submit.
It’s like having a trainer at the gym, but I’m working on your brain not your muscles.
Shoot me an email and let’s get started.
